I wrote another I Am poem. This one is from Harry Potter’s perspective. (I love Harry Potter.) Each stanza is from a different part of the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is when he is working hard to end the war with Voldemort, and he knows he is the only one who can. Harry Potter has a very tragic life, and this poem is a bit dramatic and tragic in itself. It makes me laugh a little bit, but also makes me want to cry thinking about the huge burden placed on a normal teenage boy’s shoulders. i am poem 2

Poetry reflection

I enjoyed writing poetry very much. I learned how to write a lot of new poetry formats. I liked writing poetry with a specific format because it forced me to get more creative in my word choice and think of more unique ideas. The easiest poem for me to write was the limerick. Those were a lot of fun, and once my mind was thinking in that direction it was easy to keep coming up with more. The hardest poems for me were the haikus. For some reason, every haiku I wrote sounded stupid to me. I wanted to write funny ones, and it was hard for me to stay serious. My favorite poem was either the two-voice poem or the I Am poem. The two-voice was fun because it was one poem from two different perspectives, and it was easy to make entertaining and humorous. I liked the I Am poem because it was about myself, and since it was poetry, it could be kind of abstract, and didn’t have to make sense the same way to the people who read it as it did to me. I also liked the found poetry, using lines from famous, well-written poems, because it felt impossible (to me) to go wrong with such good starting material. It was fun to organize the words of other people to say what I wanted to say. I enjoyed our poetry unit very much and hope I can keep exploring writing poetry.

I LOVED Creative Writing! Well, I love to write, so it’s not really a big surprise. This class and these projects helped me to realize my own strenths and weaknesses in my writing. I was able to explore different genres of writing and what I might be interested in pursuing further. This class also helped me to recognize the elements of writing and enabled me to implement them into my own work. Though some units were more interesting and entertaining for me, I am still glad I participated in them because it helped me to become a more well-rounded writer.

A Day in the Life

My Newspaper

We were each assigned to create our own newspaper in class with a theme to connect all the articles. Mine was titled “The Future Times” and it was all about the future. Even though the stories were fictional, it was fun to write like a reporter and to try to convince my readers that what they were reading was of utmost, urgent importance. All of the articles posted on this blog belonged in my newspaper, so that is why they are all about future events or knowledge about the future.

To get my information, I talked to the three varsity football players in my class and asked their opinion on NFL teams and which ones were likely to win the SuperBowl in the next few years.
